Negotiation Planning Seminar
Many negotiations have been “won” or “lost” before discussions on
contracts, partnerships, sales, or other transactions have even taken
place. That is because, all too often, many people approach negotiations
blindly. They fail to prepare for discussions that could provide great
results or lead to disastrous outcomes. Just as it would be foolish to
purchase a house or take a trip without adequate preparation, it is
foolish to enter into any type of negotiation without proper planning.
This axiom is true regardless of the size, complexity or nature of a
negotiation. Our comprehensive two-hour Negotiation Planning Seminar is
designed to provide participants with simple, easy-to-use concepts that
can be applied to any negotiation situation.
Often, the only difference between one negotiator and another is the
amount of time one has spent planning for a negotiation. Our Negotiation
Planning Seminar provides participants with immediate exposure to
time-tested principles and proven methodologies that lead to greater
success when negotiating. Via our proven seminar, we teach participants
how work around what is most important to them before even setting foot
at the negotiation table. Our skills-based negotiations seminar teaches
participants how to negotiate in a principled manner by focusing on
common interests while building relationships. This participatory
negotiations seminar utilizes personal assessments, group exercises,
activities and other seminar discussions to reinforce the learning
process. Via the Negotiation Planning Seminar, participants will be
prepared to handle nearly any negotiation situation and will understand
how to utilize newly learned planning skills to lead to success.
Negotiation Planning Seminar participants will learn to:
- Prepare effectively for ad-hoc or scheduled negotiation meetings
- Handle face-to-face or telephone negotiations more effectively
- Understand their requirements before approaching a negotiation
- Know when to “walk away” from bad situations
- Establish rapport and build chemistry
- Understand the needs of different negotiating types
- Place greater emphasis on planning and strategy
- Focus on interests and issues that lead to common agreement
- Apply questioning skills to determine attitudes, situations and
priorities
- Adjust their negotiations approach based on verbal cues and
behavior
- Identify areas of concern and recommend appropriate solutions
- Seek better outcomes that increase satisfaction for all parties
